Detailed ability breakdowns

These signature abilities now fire in battle with their own damage and cooldowns — a bigger skill or ultimate hits harder, and the two healers restore HP instead of striking. Still on the way here on the site: the full per-ability breakdown (exact multipliers and effects), plus deeper mechanics like status effects and multi-target hits.

Lore

The Stone Guardian holds the high-mountain clans' designation kuren-veth, 'one to whom the stone is kin,' a title given by clan-witness rather than by formal training and held by perhaps two clan-elders per generation. The current bearer in the Tribal Alliance's southern ridges is Elder Halen Vor, age forty-four, whose clan-witness was given when he survived a rockfall at twenty-three that, in the witness's account, the surrounding stone declined to extend beyond the boundaries Halen was within. The clan-elder who gave the witness is the same elder who later witnessed the most recent sona-veth elder's election; the clan considers the two recognitions linked, in a way the clan does not formalize.

His combat-grant is the slow-stance kinship-form: he plants on a section of ground, and the section becomes responsive to his footing in a manner that does not extend to other soldiers — the ground tilts to brace him when he braces, and tilts to fall enemies who close on him without his permission. The form is the physical-combat counterpart to the high-mountain sona-veth slow-form earth-magic; the two are sometimes confused by Empire field-officers, but the doctrine office considers them separate practices that share a substrate. Halen has been planted on a single section of ground for the entire duration of three engagements without falling and without yielding the section; the longest such engagement was four hours and seven minutes, recorded by an Alliance chronometer-keeper who has not commented on it in writing.

He is the named clan-witness of record at the boundary-stones meetings the high-mountain elders attend, which is a role distinct from the meetings' attendees — the clan-witness validates that the meeting occurred, in the high-mountain clans' tradition, but does not participate in the meeting's discussion. He has been the witness for nine boundary-stones meetings across seven years; the clan-elder who gave him the kuren-veth recognition has been the witness for the meetings before that, and is expected to resume the role when Halen's participation in active campaigns closes. Halen has not indicated when this will be. The clan has not asked.
