Note: in the current build, dedicated healing comes from Kingdom Medic and Cleric of Sol. Other support heroes contribute through their stats and element in the squad.

Lore

The Hacker is on the Crimson Hand's southern-bureau rolls under the work-name Vex (no surname; intake-clerks have learned not to ask), age twenty-one, joined the bureau at seventeen, the youngest currently on the active operative-roll. Her domain is locked-system penetration — Solstice imperial ledger systems, Arcane Syndicate research-vault catalogs, private-house signet-systems — and her contract-record over four years is fifty-three closures with one publicly-known false alarm and an unknown number of penetrations the targets did not detect. The bureau-master's standing instruction to other operatives is to stop relaying her closure-time estimates back to clients, on the grounds that her estimates are reliably under by a factor of two and the bureau prefers clients to be pleasantly surprised rather than skeptical at intake.

Her combat-grant in the field is not penetration of physical doors but penetration of the documents that say where the doors are. The Hand has paired her twice with the Demolitionist (char_demolitionist) on operations where Brevin's structural-plan notebook needed a fresh copy of an outpost's revised plan; Vex retrieved both copies in under a night each, and Brevin's notebook now contains three more outposts than it did before the pairing. The bureau-master has not commented on the joint operation; the southern-bureau clerks have noticed and have not asked.

She is on professional speaking terms with Auvane (char_bounty_hunter) — both are contractors rather than sworn — and on quiet wary terms with Renzo Callix (char_renzo_callix), who treats her young-age status as a thing the Hand should not be relying on and has said so to the bureau-master in writing. The bureau-master has not responded to Renzo's note in writing. She does not work for the Solstice Empire under any circumstances and has declined two recruitment overtures from the Arcane Syndicate's research-mages, on the grounds that 'a research grant has more strings than a bureau contract, and the strings are tied where I cannot see them.'
